Abstract
The study was the first to examine perfectionistic strivings and perfectionistic concerns as longitudinal antecedents of school engagement (behavioral, emotional, and cognitive) in adolescents. Using a longitudinal design with three waves spaced 4-5 months apart (9 months total), the study showed that only perfectionistic strivings predict increases in cognitive engagement in school.
